On the whole, GHAJINI is a winner all the way. The film will set new records and has the merits to emerge one of the biggest Hits of all times. The weekend business should be historic, the Week 1 business should be unparalleled, the lifetime gross should be amongst the biggest of all times. In short, GHAJINI has 'Blockbuster' written all over it.
The wait is finally over! An Aamir Khan film is nothing short of an event. The supremely talented actor acts in one film a year and no two films are ever identical in terms of plotline. No wonder then that you await an Aamir starrer with bated breath.
GHAJINI, the Tamil version, has been a massive hit and so was its dubbed Telugu version. Will the Hindi adaptation live up to the humungous expectations? The hype is unmatched and you expect no less than a present-day masterpiece.
Now the good news: GHAJINI demonstrates how strong film-making can enhance and elevate an already solid concept.
GHAJINI is a revenge saga, one ingredient that has been the staple diet of Hindi films since time immemorial. It is a powerful film. It has the power to sweep you off your feet from the word 'go'. It has a riveting story, which has been told with flourish by director A.R. Murugadoss. And, of course, it has a knockout performance by Aamir Khan. If at all there's a shred of doubt whether Aamir is The Best in the business, all you've got to do is check out GHAJINI.
Flaws any? Running time [almost 3 hours]? Not at all! There's so much happening in every scene and the screenplay is so gripping that you don't feel the need to look at the auditorium ceiling or at your watch at brief intervals. You aren't restless. As moviegoers, we've watched countless good versus evil fares over the years and although GHAJINI belongs to the same family, not once does it take the beaten track. The story has been told differently and most importantly, the story offers so many twists-n-turns that you just can't guess what would unfold next.
Is it violent? It is, at times, but the violence here is justified. In fact, every time the protagonist bashes up the evil-doers, you clap and root for him. The climax is jaw-dropping -- dissimilar from the original, but it's an out of the world experience nonetheless.
To sum up, GHAJINI is commercial Hindi cinema at its best. The film has 'Hit' written all over it. Let me put it this way: Cancel whatever you're doing today and go watch GHAJINI instead.
Aamir Khan is suffering from acute short-term memory loss set off by the violent murder of his girlfriend Asin. He's got to work around this handicap, but with methodical and meticulous determination. Aamir etches a path of clues that lead him on his road.
To aid him in his quest, he carries around a sheaf of Polaroids and when he is really sure of a piece of information, he has it tattooed on his body, which stands in for the damaged part of his mind. His indelibly marked torso is the repository of his grief, his rage and his reason to go on living.
Any more revelation would do gross injustice to the film and to its viewer.
First things first! GHAJINI is not MEMENTO. There're minor similarities, but GHAJINI takes a completely different route to tell its story. Director A.R. Murugadoss tells this one differently. It starts off with what happens in the past, comes to the present-day, goes back in time again and returns to the contemporary again. This is a breathless, exciting story, heart-breaking and exhilarating at the same time.
Hindi movies have often depicted people suffering from amnesia/memory loss, but GHAJINI is poles apart because the protagonist recalls events only for 15 minutes. The story is its USP, without a doubt. But what adds sheen and glory to the story is Aamir's portrayal of a man suffering from short-term memory loss. Aamir hardly speaks. In fact, the leading lady [Asin] speaks more than Aamir in the film. But Aamir speaks volumes with his eyes, he conveys whatever has to be conveyed through his body language, he says it all with his facial expressions and that only makes GHAJINI a memorable, never-seen-before experience.
Director A.R. Murugadoss deserves brownie points for not just coming up with an interesting story, but also presenting it [refreshingly] differently. The storyteller balances the light moments and the ones demanding intensity with expertise. There's dum in every sequence. Even if the director has to depict violence, he doesn't resort to blood-n-gore or knives-swords-pistols for effect.
A.R. Rahman's music is top notch. At least three numbers have the unmistakable stamp of a genius -- 'Guzarish', 'Behka' and 'Kaise Mujhe'. Ravi Chandran's cinematography is stunning. The film bears a stylish look all through. The action sequences are brilliantly executed. The Hindi moviegoers haven't seen such scenes ever.
Aamir delivers his career-best performance. In the first place, it requires courage and maturity to name the film after the villain. Knowing how egoistic our stars are, something like this is next to impossible in Hindi films. A lot has been said and written about the GHAJINI look -- Aamir's hairstyle and his dream physique. It's awe-inspiring and if more and more people adopt the 'Aamir look' or hit the gym, it would be courtesy the actor. As far as his acting is concerned, he's natural as the tycoon, but like a wounded, ferocious tiger when he goes on an avenging spree. Without doubt, it's a concentrated, layered performance. He acts with his entire being. His body movement, the details of his performance, everything rings true. He is both vulnerable and hard. The pain in his face when he can't remember, is palpable. It's not only the plot that carries GHAJINI. It's also the mood and the expression on Aamir's face that makes GHAJINI a treat.
Asin is fabulous. To share the screen space with an actor of the stature of Aamir Khan and yet remain in your memory even after the show has ended is no cakewalk. She looks fresh and photogenic and acts her part brilliantly. Pradeep Rawat, the villain, is first-rate.

Synopsis of Valkyrie:-

What Doesn't Kill You Watch Movie Review Online What Doesn't Kill You, a tough, authentic street drama born, bred, and shot in the no-spin zone of working-class South Boston, doesn't spell out the origin of the movie's title. Nor does it complete the second half of Friedrich Nietzsche's famous declaration to which it alludes — the part about making you stronger. There's no need for moralizing when the actions and consequences are so clear and the story — of two local toughs at a critical juncture in their lives — is so strikingly free of romanticized Southie swagger.
It helps, surely, that Brian Goodman, an actor making a strong directorial debut, tells a version of his own life story here. And it's evident that a serious commitment to the tenets of 12-step recovery programs keeps him modest and honest about what works for getting stronger (if you keep working it).
In a harmonious pairing of temperaments and talents for portraying flawed men who enforce their codes of ethics on a sliding scale, Ethan Hawke and Mark Ruffalo play Paulie and Brian, respectively — best friends from the Southie hood who fall under the sway of a local crime boss (played with authority by Goodman). Paulie, single and loving it, keeps his head clear for business. But Brian, a husband and father under pressure, burrows downward into drugs and drink. (Amanda Peet is terrific as Brian's worn-down wife, sick of seeing her man disappear before her eyes.) Goodman the filmmaker eloquently conveys what Goodman the addict learned: that the climb back up and out is hell — and worth it. B+

Nothing Like The Holidays - **
"Nothing Like the Holidays" is a Kinko's copy of "This Christmas," which was an African-American homage to "The Family Stone." There's nothing new under the mistletoe in this warm but generic family-stressing-for-the-holidays dramedy.
But solid writing and good acting put the Latin-flavored Nothing on a par with its many forebears. A Who's Who of Latin talent make this ensemble piece hit all the familiar sentimental notes, even if those notes are played-out..
The far-flung Rodriguez clan is returning to Humboldt Park in Chicago for Christmas. There's Roxanna (Vanessa Ferlito of "Grindhouse"), the "movie star," actually just a struggling actress trying to make it in LA. Mauricio (John Leguizamo) is a New York lawyer who married well but married Jewish (Debra Messing). And Jesse is the prodigal son, the one who went into the military, to Iraq, where he was wounded, just to escape working in the family bodega.
Alfred Molina, who once starred in "The Perez Family," is patriarch of the Rodriguez family. The great Elizabeth Pena ("Lone Star") is entirely too young to be playing the matriarch, a grump who has tired of her man's 36 years of flirting around and is talking "divorce." The children notice Dad's many secretive cell-phone chats, too.
"Since when did Dad get all Dick Cheney with you?"
Everybody has a secret in this family with "issues."
There's the grandchildren mom nags for and the career Mrs. Mauricio has put first. Messing does well enough by the "white girl" who doesn't quite fit in, whose attempts at Spanish only lead to insults.
Jesse has an old flame to confront (Melonie Diaz of "Be Kind Rewind"), Roxanna a local hunk (Jay Hernandez) to avoid getting herself entangled with. And Cousin Johnny (Luis Guzman, of course) is here for comic relief.
But for a Latin holiday picture, "Nothing Like the Holidays" is awfully whitebread. The plot is too familiar, and that's more noticeable because there's no spice, only a smidgen of Spanish and Spanglish among these Puerto Rican Chicagoans. Even the Christmas caroling they do in a La Posada holiday procession is in English.
So they're assimilated - everything they confront is universal. Is this a great country or what? But that robs this Alfredo de Villa ("Washington Heights") film of purpose. Without that "difference," "Nothing Like the Holidays" is a movie making a "We're all the same" point, a point that begs the question, "Why make the movie, then?"

I am a big kid at heart. I buy more kid related dvds for myself then my kids. Thanks to Team Mom I had the chance to see this never seen before image from the upcoming movie Delgo.
From this image alone I can see the detail especially in the faces of the characters. Delgo is a action/adventure animated movie about a forbidden romance that leads into a wonderful adventure. Delgo is an independent feature film with a great voice cast. It includes Freddie Prinze, Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, Anne Bancroft ,Val Kilmer , Lou Gossett Jr. ,Michael Clarke Duncan , Kelly Ripa and Burt Reynolds. This PG rated film has the makings of a great family movie with its princess and hero in a mystical land. That meets the criteria for my 6 year old in a movie. She watched the trailer with me and the first thing to catch her eye was all the beautiful colors. I have to agree with her. There are shades of color I have never really seen before. I could not tear my eyes away. Delgo comes out December 12, 2008 and I already have a few dates. My whole family wants to check it out and I can't wait. I just hope it doesn't make it cry.

Wendy and Lucy Movie Review, Wendy and Lucy Hollywood Movie Preview
Wendy and Lucy plays like an 80-minute deleted scene from Into the Wild as we meet Wendy Carroll (Michelle Williams) and her Golden Labrador, Lucy, in the midst of a cross-country journey. Wendy is heading toward Alaska and her home is her car; how she got into this predicament we never find out. Directed by Kelly Reichardt the film has a curious pace to it and Williams takes an eerily calm approach to Wendy that would have an outsider believe she is in control of her situation just as she is spiraling further and further downward.
Hints of Wendy’s origins are revealed when she calls her brother-in-law back in Indiana and has a brief conversation with him coupled with an accusatory moment with her sister. Wendy’s car has broken down and she and Lucy are stranded in a small Oregon town. Strapped for cash and dealing with a hungry dog, Wendy is caught shoplifting at a local grocery store and spends half-a-day in jail with Lucy tied up back at the store. As luck (or a lack of it) would have it, she returns to the store later that day to find her only friend in the world missing. Stranded and alone, her only sanctuary in the middle of the night after an unexpected run-in with a transient is a gas station bathroom - things can’t get much worse.
Despite my early comparison to Into the Wild, Wendy and Lucy is a unique film as it jumps instantly into the life of Wendy without any background information and limited reasoning as to where she is heading and why she left wherever she was. The only thing the audience is asked to take into consideration is that Wendy seems to be running to something and her partner in it all is her dog. Dog lovers will instantly connect to this story once Lucy goes missing and it is all Wendy can concern herself with, despite a lack of food, money and proper shelter. It speaks to how desperate she is for her one and only companion in this world and it becomes the audience’s connection to the emotional heart of the story.
There are going to be people that leave this film 100% devastated because it truly is a sad story. You get the impression Wendy and Lucy have been traveling together for quite some time and we are entering the story at the first moment of real heartache. I attribute this to the calm nature Wendy seems to have about her even when confronted with some serious situations. Sure she has been sleeping in her car for quite some time, but it had always started in the morning. Now it is broken down, her dog is missing and she has just had to pay the police more money for her fine than it would have cost her for the items she shoplifted in the first place. Times are about to get really tough and we are asked to join in the journey.
This is by no means a pick-me-up film. It’s an actor’s film and it is meant to showcase the ability of Michelle Williams and her increasing ability to avoid all comparisons to her former life as a “Dawson’s Creek” star as well as the talent of yet another talented female director in Kelly Reichardt. Even though I didn’t like Synecdoche, New York Williams was great in that film as well and this serves up a twofer in 2008 for the young actress that only seems to get better and better with each film she makes. Reichardt, on the other hand, is an unknown to me. This could be the start of something great even though she has been making films for 14 years now. Will this be her breakthrough moment?
Wendy and Lucy isn’t exactly a film you will be running around and telling your friends they must go see it, but it is one you can watch and certainly appreciate for the work on screen.

There seems to be a growing glut of underage desire in movies this holiday season, whether real or imagined, among them Benjamin Button, Gardens Of The Night, Doubt, and now The Reader. Though The Reader clearly has much more on its metaphorical mind, in particular perverse passions of the political sort that can create a morally problematic situation where in the case of one's country, love is basically blind.
Directed by Stephen Daldry (The Hours), The Reader is adapted by David Hare from German writer Bernhard Schlink's in part autobiographical novel of the same name. Kate Winslet stars as Hanna, the bedraggled West German workingclass accidental seductress of painfully horny high school boy Michael (David Kross as a teen, and Ralph Fiennes as the adult) coming of age in a comfortable but rigid late 1950's bourgeois household.
One day while Michael is heading home from school, he falls ill and throws up in front of Hanna's seedy apartment building. And when she comes to his aid and invites him upstairs to clean himself up, Michael is hopelessly smitten while watching the cranky loner as she irons her bra, a chore that females apparently used to fuss about prior to the women's liberation movement. Though Hanna is no wilting flower. As soon as the strangely aloof, mysterious sudden sexpot senses Michael's raging hormones and thwarted libido, she's ordering Kid - as she is fond of calling him to presumably keep him at emotional arm's length - into her tub for a round of sensual bathing, and engaging in a game of mutual hide and peek with the lusty lad.
The heated but conflicted affair complicated by age and class contrasts soon runs its course, with Hanna suddenly disappearing without a word one day. But not before a highly unusual element of foreplay enters into their steamy, hermetic, forbidden world, namely Hanna's insistence that he read books to her before each sexual encounter. Soon Homer, Chekhov, and D.H. Lawrence deepen their odd couple emotional ties, when not functioning as some sort of lofty premature sex toys.
To give away anything further about this captivating combo torrid psychological and political courtroom thriller would compromise the many unconventional surprises and provocative dramatic suspense of this film. Suffice it to say that this story, despite some persistent plot flaws, is crafted with an immensely engaging array of daring twists touching on morality versus law. And at the same time, political corruption of a nation between governments and its citizens, as well as the Nazi inter-generational legacy. Not to mention a devil's advocate, brutally candid reconsideration of the entire notion of just following orders, and deference to no matter what authority. The Reader, a remarkably brilliant and subversive guilt by erotic association thriller.

Caught in the web of post-marital boredom and the irresistible temptation of lurking out of the relationship for some fun, Dil Kabaddi tackles the journey of two modern day couples in urban India, Samit and Mita & Rishi and Simi.
While Samit is indeed proud of his philandering and thoroughly enjoys the adventure and experimentation, Mita is at the receiving end of his adulterous ways. His pride along with her suffering defines their relationship. On the other hand, as Rishi tries really hard to walk that extra-mile and get rid of his monogamy, Simi struggles to decide whether she is really cut out for something outside of marriage or not. His desperation coupled with her confusion, decide the dynamics of this relationship. As the four saddle their way on the marital marathon, they come across Kaya, who spices up the goings-on between Samit and Mita; Raga, who gives Rishi the motivation to take the next step; and Veer who ends up for a short stint with Mita and becomes the sole reason for Simi’‘‘‘s confusion. How the quartet handles these complex, sensitive matters of the heart and how they solve the never ending quests which their hearts put them through, with some winning the battle and some ending up with a broken heart, is essentially the crux of the plot of Dil Kabaddi.
Dil Kabaddi is a humourous and exaggerated take on the dynamics of the relationships between married couples, without being judgemental. It reveals the internal dilemma of the characters as they struggle to maintain or easily let go of their marriages, to fulfill their deeper desires. I have tried to etch out each character in the film in such a way, which reflects all the desires of a modern day married couple. Through this story, I have tried to project how they try and find harmony and balance, by sacrificing at times and compromising at others. What happens when each one holds on to their own individual stance and how the dynamics change accordingly, is also something, which I have explored.
THE BUZZ Dil Kabaddi will mark the acting debut of newcomer Saba Azad. She has grown on and around the stage out of pure default as her family has been and continues to be actively associated with theatre as well as other performing arts. A childhood spent surrounded by the stalwarts of Indian theatre created the perfectly conducive environ which further nurtured her love for the performing arts. Saba had an opportunity to face the camera young, acting in a couple of children’‘‘‘s films. During school she was always a part of the school theatre as well as dance productions…..interest in dance led her to train in Oddissi, ballet, jazz, Latin as well as the contemporary dance forms. Which kept the fire for the arts going in her. Here again she got an opportunity to perform with her Odissi guru in and outside the country including England Canada and Nepal. After schooling the obvious ‘‘‘‘now what?’‘‘‘ question popped up and it was the easiest to answer. A lead role in a short film for a friend which incidentally traveled to festivals in New York, Florence and Israel sealed the deal and re-triggered the love for the camera and there has been no looking back since. Saba moved to Bombay from Delhi round a year and a half back. In her time here she has featured in a dozen commercials ( Kit Kat, Vodafone, Sunsilk, Nescafe , Mayur Suitings, Masterstroke, Dabur juice to name a few) as well as big print campaigns [ Johnson & Johnson ( clean and clear), Westside, Amway].
She is playing a young student’‘‘‘s role in "Dil Kabbadi" with new director Anil Sharma.

Nikhil Dwivedi who debuted from “My Name is Anthony Gonsalves” opposite Amrita Rao will be appearing in the film “Khalbali - Fun Unlimited” ,that is another drama and comedy film. Dwivedi shot for the film song with the south Indian actress Sadaa in a bus that was used by Indian cricket team that has been playing the T-20 match in the initial part of the year 2008.
The film “Khalbali - Fun Unlimited” is basically a fun film in which there are many known comedy actors of bollywood and the song in the bus brings all the characters together. The song has been a Marathi chartbuster and it is said that Nikhil is doing a good job in film. The film “Khalbali - Fun Unlimited” that has also been named “Khalbali Hai Khalbali” is basically a comedy film that will have all kind of drama, songs and entertainment.
The story of the film is about a rich hotelier who hires a gangster to get a bomb planted in the hotel of his rival as his rival’s hotel is very popular .Many different kind of customers visit the hotel that vary from a film unit on shooting to underworld dons.

Story of Movie is something like that, Sanjay Suri as Harsh who lives in Mauritius has found his love of life as Aliyah (Chitrangda Singh) and all set to marry her. He calls back home giving the good news but her mother (Shabana Aazmi) do not favour this. However, his brother Siddhartha Mathur(Sharman Joshi) takes the responsibility to bring the family to the Mauritius for marriage ceremony. Harsha is busy with his work so while the family give visit to his place, now its his fiance who take the responsibility to take care, while still the mother is not in favour of the marriage.
Aliyah make sures that Harsha’s family feel at home here in Mauritius, for this Sidhhartha helps her, however all this makes them attracted to each other.
Aliyah, felt dejected by Harsha because of his priority to work find her love shifting towards Sidhhartha, she realize that her real love is Sidhhartha and she is now all committed for it. Sidhhartha now in dilemma, also found himself gradually getting attracted to Aliyah too.
On the other hand, there is suspicious Mom (Shabana Azmi) who find something fishy between Aliyah and Sidhhartha.
The wait is finally over! An Aamir Khan film is nothing short of an event. The supremely talented actor acts in one film a year and no two films are ever identical in terms of plotline. No wonder then that you await an Aamir starrer with bated breath.
Is it violent? It is, at times, but the violence here is justified. In fact, every time the protagonist bashes up the evil-doers, you clap and root for him. The climax is jaw-dropping -- dissimilar from the original, but it's an out of the world experience nonetheless.
Hindi movies have often depicted people suffering from amnesia/memory loss, but GHAJINI is poles apart because the protagonist recalls events only for 15 minutes. The story is its USP, without a doubt. But what adds sheen and glory to the story is Aamir's portrayal of a man suffering from short-term memory loss. Aamir hardly speaks. In fact, the leading lady [Asin] speaks more than Aamir in the film. But Aamir speaks volumes with his eyes, he conveys whatever has to be conveyed through his body language, he says it all with his facial expressions and that only makes 
Asin is fabulous. To share the screen space with an actor of the stature of Aamir Khan and yet remain in your memory even after the show has ended is no cakewalk. She looks fresh and photogenic and acts her part brilliantly. Pradeep Rawat, the villain, is first-rate.
